I own a 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan EX and the driver's side window is really screwing up. It will roll down, but it will not roll back up. It used to happen only when I rolled the window down with the "auto" function, but now it will not roll up more than a centimeter at a time. I have to pull it up as high as I can and hope the motor can do the rest. Anyone else have this happen to them? If so...what could the problem be? Fixable at home or should I take it to the shop? Thanks for the help in advance... If i were to guess, I would say that the relay in the door that makes the autodown function work has gone or is going bad...you can bypass this switch by using a jumper wire, but you will need to cut and splice and your auto down feature will not work. What you you think STEVEFL??? I would give a squirt of WD-40 lubricant to the window channels before anything else. Hope that the window is binding and this cures it. If not, then we look to stronger medicine. I had same situation on japanese cars. I took out switches, cleaned the contacts and they worked fine. Lubed the window channels with silicone spray too. Took about and hour a door time wise I went through all of them as some would work indiviually but not with master switch etc. They were all older vehicles that what you have. Dealer wanted $300 for drivers side master control switch. That was their fix! Took it to a garage and found out that the motor was shot. He replaced the motor and it's all fixed now...the A/C needed a charge, thank God that it wasn't a bad compressor or the like. Plus, the brakes needed replacing in the rear, but I did it myself! It took 3 hours on the drivers side and then 10 min. on the other side. I guess I figured out how to do it...I feel like I now OWN my van...
! Congratulations. You found out auto repair is really not as difficult as it was yesterday.
