mice chewing off insulation from spark plug wires and other

Another question about the 94 Nissan Maxima. My dad found a mouse nest in the air filter, so it was changed... HOWEVER, the mice managed to chew off some of the insulation from spark plug wires and other electrical wires. But, none are shorting out, if you know what I mean. Could just the insulation being torn away keep the vehicle from starting??? It's easy enough to check. Just see if you're getting a spark at the end of each wire. If you don't know how to do this, post again. cover each of the frayed electrical wires seperatly w/electrical tape to keep them from arching...this could damage the computer......

change the plug wires.....even if you cover them w/electrical tape that spark can still jump through the tape.Car Repair Talk's forum.
