1999 Suburban LT Electrical Issue - Turn Signal Noise

Hi everyone,

I was thinking about posting pictures to display the issue but I figured that since it's only a noise and has no visual cue that really wouldn't make any difference.

I have a 1999 Suburban LT that has a randomized turn signal noise, it extends past the time that the turn signal is turned off and sometimes occurs for about 5-10 seconds when I accidentally touch the lever **even if I don't actually turn the signal on**. It has also occurred when going up steep hills as the added pressure on the lever can sometimes set it off.

It's not a major annoyance but it's something that's very noticeable and would be wonderful if I could fix it or somehow disable the clicking noise associated with my turn signals all together. How difficult would this be to fix?

Thanks in advance, I very much appreciate the time you guys spend to help me sort out this minor issue. Possible that you could have an unattended connection being made due to a faulty multifunction switch. Easiest way to find that out is to remove the column covers and plug in another multifunction switch and see if the problem disappears. You can also ohm check the wiring and connections in the switch to see if it is making contact when it shouldn't be.

The turn signal and hazards use the same flasher. If you eliminate the flasher, the turn signals or hazards won't work. The flasher is used to open and break the circuit, so the lights flash. Extremely helpful! Thank you!

I'll make sure to post an update once I've done more research on what you suggested and done my best to address the issue.

Thanks again.Car Repair Talk's forum.
