1977 chevy pickup 350 starter wiring

there are 2 wires going to the starter, 1 is battery cable on the big post .which terminal on the coil does the smaller wire go to??

phil Should go to the starter relay. I've got a solenoid on my firewall just above where the starter mounts, and I have the wire hooked up to one of the large posts of the solenoid. I don't know if it's original to the truck, so I can't tell you if you have one. I have 2 solenoids that operate my starter, one starter mounted and one firewall mounted.Car Repair Talk's forum.
