1993 GMC SAfari Van 4.3
Vehicle started having a battery drain. Battery would be totally drained in 24 hours. Charged battery, removed negative battery cable, placed test light between cable and battery post. Light came on, but dim. Started removing fuses one at a time, to get idea where short might be confined to. Light never went out, but got extremely bright when I removed the fuse for the interior lights and cigarette lighter. Also, some type of buzzer/alarm came on in the right kick panel area on the inside of the van.. Any suggestions would be extremely appreciated. You are in the right area mof the battery drain test. You want to put your volt meter on M-amps and get your high reading. Turn the car on and off, wait 30 mins so all your modules goto sleep, then start pulling your fuses 1 at a time untill the miliamps goes way down, almost to like .020mA once there you have to foolow your fuse scematic and find your source to drain.
You can get step by step fool proof instructions on how to do this battery drain at Alldata Online. I really recomend getting this if you plan on doing this job yourself. It will give you all the schematics you need to run down your wires and it will also show you where your modules are.
This manual is 100 times better then any chiltions or haynes. and it is an online manual.
