truck cranks up but stops wont idle

99 ford f-150 95,000 miles. will turn over but wont stay cranked will not idle.. What engine size do you have?

Can you keep the engine running with the accelerator? fuel filter, clogged injectors. change filter, use gas additive injector cleaner. if those don't work go after timing. Very common failure on these is the Idle Speed Control motor. We have about 900 Fords in our fleet and change about 5 of these a week. Tom Yep, Ford has a very high failure rate of Idle Speed Control valves. I replace two or three a week myself.

Normally a good smack with the handle of a large screw driver will free it temporarily which can be used to confirm the diagnosis.Car Repair Talk's forum.
