99 dodge ram truck compression readings and problems

have a 99 dodge ram 1500 5.9 v8 136000 miles i reclenty did a compression check all cylinders came back with a 140 psi reading except one that has a 105 so now i am unsure of what to do, do i change the plugs and wires or what should i do. Is it still safe to drive like this, what could be the reprocussions for driving it as is. Any suggestions and/or ideas would be helpful thanks Did you do your compression check on a hot or cold motor? To be more accurate, it should be done on a up to temp motor.

150-160 is a good engine, 140 little wear. About 100 is the cutoff for decent compression and combustion. So you are close on that cylinder.

Run a wet compression check. Pour about a teaspoon of oil in each cylinder. A squeeze oil can helps rather than trying to feed it like a baby. .

If compression increases, then the rings are worn. If it remains about the same, then the valves/seats are worn. This will give you a better idea where you stand. You might get away with rebuilding the heads versus the whole motor.

The only thing you face running it like it is loss of power and the plug fouling. i did the compression check on a warm engine i will try the oil trick and let you know what i came up with thanks for your help on this matter so farCar Repair Talk's forum.
