I do most of my own maintenance on my truck and I have come across a problem that I would like some input on. My check engine light has come on and I hooked a laptop up to the Data Link Connector to find out what the error code is. I am getting an OBC II code P0102 which is "Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Low Input". I have checked the Mass Air Flow Sensor with a computer and that is functioning correctly. Any other ideas on what this might be?
Probably the wiring between the MAF sensor and the computer.
Check for broken insulation... and hope the wire was convieniently placed (unlikely).
If you trace the wires and see no trouble you can test the resistance of the wire by hooking an ohm meter to the (unplugged) lead at the MAF sensor and the unplugged lead at the computer. I had the same exact problem on my Mazda B4000, got the same trouble code as well... I had to replace the computer to correct the problem. The computer somehow got shorted out. I dont want to tell you that it's the computer for sure, but i would highly recommend checking it out. Goodluck.. Thanks for your responses. I have tested the wiring with an ohm meter, and was able to get good readings. The truck is still under the extended warranty I purchased, so I think I am going to take it into the dealership and let them deal with it. The MAF and the computer are covered so it can be their headache.Car Repair Talk's forum.
