I have been driving my pickup with a clutch that only engages in the last inch or so of travel, a hydraulic clutch, and only sporadically- every couple of weeks for a trip to town...
Today it started fine in the barn and after driving it up to the house, turning it off, loading it to the gills with trash to take to the landfill it wouldn't turn over. Murhy's Law.
It did make a slight seizing "grunt" when I first tried to start it. The battery is fully charged. No solenoid clicking or starter motor, nothing.
There are a couple of circuits out in the dashboard- radio, dome light, and turn signals don't work but they haven't for a while and it always started right up.
Would a worn out clutch keep this truck from starting? You have to have the pedal depressed for it to start, so I figure the travel is all used up. Any enlightenment on this for a cheap farmer? Thanks.
There is a clutch position switch on the clutch pedal. It is similar to a brake light switch. Check it to see if it is adjusted. It should be self adjusting, but sometimes they don't work right.
