Wondering what kind of trouble Bars Leak or a similar coolant leak stopper will get me into?
I have a 94 Toyota truck 22RE (4 cyl) with 113,000 miles.
Problem started as white exhaust and then engine running really shaky (as if not all cylinders were firing). There was a white residue on plug from cyliner #2. It sat a week and then wouldn't turn over when I tried to start it. There was coolant on plug #2.
Assuming a blown head gasket or worse...?
I was going to pull the head (with assistance of an experienced neighbor), but I heard there are some coolant leak stoppers that might solve the problem.
I am suspicious of such a cheap fix though. Will this stuff gum up my radiator? Thermostat? or other places my coolant goes?
Thanks for any advice you can give,
Will These stop-leak products may be suitable for minor leaks in the cooling system but they are of no value for damaged head gaskets. Whether you use it or not, you will ultimately have to replace the head gasket. Hey Thanks for the response. I'm proceeding to pull the head.
Will you should see the inside of a radiator that has had stop-leak put in it, it will plug the insides all up, nearly ruining radiator
