I have a 99 Ford Contour with the 2.0 4 cyl. The car blew a heater hose and got hot. It was driven about one mile in this condition. The car died and has not started since. I have checked the timing belt, spark and fuel issues. I have good fire and fuel. The car acts like it wants to run but doesn't. Any ideas of where to go next. Or could anyone tell me how to retrieve codes from this unit without a scanner or diagonistic reader. Any ideas would help.
If you ran it really hot, there is a possibility you collapsed the rings and lost compression. This is where I would start. There are no provisions to read the codes without a scanner.
Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds I should probably run compression check and go from there. I will try to do that tomorrow eve.
