98 jeep grand cheeroke with a code 1494

i have been trying to help a freind with his 98 jeep grand cheeroke with a code 1494 it has to do with a pump for the EVAP system and i cant find it. another friend has a tranny shop and he has alldate and it shows the pump too be on the l/f inner fender next to the air filler houseing its not there and doent look like it ever was..
I searched and cannot find a decent component locator.
i know a call to the dealer parts dept can usually help.i have had success with this, cause the technicians are usually sitting in there and if the parts guy can't tell ya,he will ask a tech.

stupid question, vehicle wasn't in and or repaired from an accident was it....maybe part wasn't replaced....stupid i know ,but have ran across this with other parts....just throwing it out there...

Have you looked all over the left fender? The manufacturers have a way of hiding the parts. I have the same picture you describe and it just shows left front fender. It might be under the air box. Mine seems to show it to be close to the radiator cross support. Here is my location.

Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds i was thinking the same. i had the jeep last week and am going to look at it again this week.
thanks for the idea am also going to the junk yard to check on another 98... why is it that
problem on certain cars are a one year only build. i always work on them. lol
i do this on the side i was a tech. at a garage long time ago and stopped doing
it cause it sucks good money but people and cars just suck. Now i just work on family
and friend cars to help them out great web page. Thanks again
way2old i followed the hoses from the gas tank to the sensor ( the top one in the picture) to the carcoal canaster
and at the intake so i don't think that i could be something under the air filter houseing but its true they do like to
hide parts in funny or should i say dumb spots. Thanks again for the help..
just to fill you in found the problem. the computer was changed i think with a 97 to 96 year. Those years have the pump 98 is a one year think lucky me. So i added the pump cheaper then the computer. So i want to thank you and Jim for the help.
see my posting i fix the can and i just want to thank you.
Thank you for your fix post. We all learned something new with the 1 year thing. Thanks again for posting, now I know JIM N will sleep tonight.

Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds I'm nocturnal...
