I got the EGR code P0406. I disconnected the wire harness to make sure I had a good connection. After reconnecting it My check enginelight went off. Are my problems solved? My 3/36 warranty just expired. Also, is there a longer warranty on parts related to emissions control I have a 2005 Ram with the 5.7 liter Hemi.
The P0406 sets when the EGR position sensor's signal return is the same as or higher then reference voltage. Without doing the actual tests on the circuit; I would say that the EGR position sensor is likely at fault. I’ve had to replace a number of valve/sensor assemblies for this reason.
As for an extended emissions warranty, call the dealer with your VIN # and mileage and they’ll tell you whether there is any coverage for this.
