2003 GTI error code:P0171

 a 2003 GTI and has a P0171 error code, any help with regards to a plan of action would be helpful and appreciated

That code means the system is running too lean and the computer has compensated all that it can. Look for vacuum or intake air leaks first. If nothing found, it can be a problem with the Mass Air flow sensor. Sometimes cleaning the sensor wire with electrical cleaner spray will work.
