2001 chevy silverado with code P0446

Need to know what causes this code to pop up on my 2001 chevy silverado 5.3 with 51300 miles on it I dont drive it over dirt roads on mud all of a sudden service engine soon came on, diagnosed and code P0446 showed on scanner.Can I be able to replace the part that is causing this trouble, I will appreciate any help only vehicle to drive to work and in need to fix before any other problem may occur thank you.
I'm not 100% on this, but i believe PO446 is EVAP vent solenoid performance. If you have access to a decent scanner or a gm tech 2, you will be able to control the solenoid through the special functions menu. If you don't have access to a scanner, you will need to complete the circuit by applying power or ground to the solenoid (again, not sure which. I use the scanner. A safe bet would be to disconnect the electrical connector and apply both power and ground) However you do it, you should listen for a click from the solenoid. They get jammed up quite often and have to be replaced. All this is based on P0446 being "EVAP vent solenoid performance" If I'm wrong on the code, this probably won't help. Best of luck.
I appreciate your input, I only connected the code reader and erased and reseted the code it's been 3 days and it hasn't come back on so I dont know if it reseted right or not but it is not coming back on so I think I'm good with that till now thanks again.
