ask:
I have a 1995 Oldsmobile 88 that seems to fall at the cusp of OBD1 & 2. My searches and questions to stores and mechanics all tell me that only a dealer has readers for this model year. It has the 16 pic connector for OBD-II but does not read to a hand-held cheapie scanner.
What do I need to get some codes?
answer:
Call your local dealer and see if they have the adapter. We had to buy one because we had 2 1995 S-10's. It is a real PITA. They may read the codes for a nominal fee or possibly feree if you catch them on a good day. Some higher end tools may also be able to convert the signals. Good luck.
