What a nightmare. All indications pointed to a faulty EGR valve. Took it to my machanic friend, "no EGR valve" He did manage to dig up "error code 46" under the carpet on passengers side. No luck...finding out what that means on the I net. Please help/advise
Hi
Did some research...I can find a chart that goes up to code 20...then it say this....
- If a code or codes other than those listed in this section are indicated, substitute a known good ECU and recheck.
- When the Check Engine Warning Light and the Self-Diagnosis indicator are on, the backup system is in operation. Substitute a known good ECU and recheck.
- In either case above, if substitute ECU corrects the problem then replace the original ECU.
So that leads me to believe the electronic control unit is faulty.....
But thats just a guess......

Not much more help, but here is all the codes I can find for it. There is no 46. Also what do you mean by digging it up under the passenger side carpet?
Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds Thanks so much for your help. I stopped by the honda dealer, and they informed
me that there is no "error 46" code. Highest it goes is 41 or 43 and that indicates a bad O2 sensor. My friend, looked under the carpet on the passenger side under the dashboard, to come up with the "code". I tried the same myself outside the dealership....and could not or have any clue where he got it from.
Symptoms: Runs like a champ, as long as i don't approach idle speeds. If I do, the check engine light comes on and it runs like junk, unable to accelerate. I have found the quick fix, turn it off then turn it on at a stop or while driving and the light goes off, and runs like a champ again.
Thanks again for your help
Passages side under the carpet at the front firewall is the computer, and side kick panel is the diagnostic plug
which you have to jump, this will set of the MIL light which is in the computer under the carpet.
There is a little window where you can see the MIL flashing which you have to count to get the codes.Thats what he means to say .
