Hood Latch Renewal - Rivet Work

The hood 'bellcrank' (mechanism attached to the cable inside the hood) on my 95 Cherokee Sport is corroded and bent from my quick 'field' repair of the broken hood latch cable a few years ago (I used a bicycle cable and fed it through the old mechanism). I have a new cable mechanism now as well as a new bellcrank and would like to install. The current bellcrank is held in place by two rivets that go into the hood. I have never worked with rivets before other than to drill them out. Anyone have a link to a good tutorial or advice on how I should go about sizing the rivets and installing? I could leave the current installation in but if it ever failed I would of course have huge problems getting the hood open. I figure for the $20 in parts it is worth making sure this will be the last part to ever break! I found some good tutorials on riveting and ended up not replacing the bellcrank anyway. There was still considerable metal left and it will (hopefully) hold up fine. The cable was easy to replace. The only trick was getting the rubber stuffing tube to seat correctly in the wall between the engine and passenger compartment. I managed to pull it on the engine compartment side until it seated as it is supposed to.
