94 Blazer gas problem
I have a 94 blazer that was running fine and then all the sudden died. It turns over now but acts as though it isn't getting any gas. I am sure it's probably the fuel pump but could it be something easier that I am overlooking. Perhaps a fuse or relay switch? If it is a fuse or switch could someone please help me locate either of them. Thanks in advance for your help.
The owner's manual should tell you what fuse and relay cover the fuel pump. Test that power get to and thru them. Locations should be listed,

I DON'T KNOW HOW KNOWLEDGEABLE YOU ARE WITH ENGINES. if you have a CHILTON manual or equiv. , find the section showing the "fuel line IN" to your throttle body or MFI. disconnect this line, put a jar or appropriate container over it to catch any gas flow. once this is done, "key" the ignition, turn the ignition to "on" , off, and "on" again, then leave off. if you don't have a helper to communicate to you, check for gasoline in the container. if you have a noticeable amount in the container, your fuel pump is OK, for the fuel pump gets its signal from the ECM to pump when the ignition is "keyed" to the "on" position. if no, or hardly noticeable amount is encountered, the problem is in the FUEL PUMP SYSTEM--not necessarily the FUEL PUMP. it could be a bad "fuel pump" fuse in the fuse block, or a loose, wet, or dirty/corroded "FUEL PUMP RELAY". one item people overlook is the 'FUEL FILTER". check your manual for the location of the fuel filter. if you have 100,000+ miles on the engine, replace the filter FIRST--I REPEAT..REPLACE THE FUEL FILTER FIRST, for this is OVER 3 times the recommended mileage for FF replacement(30,000 miles on FI engines). retry starting to see if this might be the problem, if not, then check for fuel pump pumping as described above. the FF replacement will cost approx. $5 if you do the job yourself and will be an improvement in the FUEL SYSTEM, regardless of the real problem. my fuel filter is located under the area of the back seat on the passenger side ahead of the rear tire. it's mounted to the inside of the "passenger side" frame member. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU FIND OUT--THANX
put about 1/8 cup gas in the air intake, and make sure it gets down in there. Start it up, if it runs good for a couple seconds, then doesn't, it is definitely a fuel supply problem. First, replace fuel filter, if that's clogged, that will do it. Then, fuel pump. If fuel injected, you can get the pressure tested, it needs to be high or it won't work for injectors. Peace!
