I have a 2000 Alero. In the last 3 months I have
had brakes front and rear, tune up and a month ago I replaced the compressor for my AC. Since getting my car back it is very sluggish and it has lost all power while driving down the street 2 times. Both times it stalled I was a few hrs from home. The first time I called roadside assistance and had it towed to the garage. It cranked when they got it at the garage. They could find nothing wrong with it. They put it on the diagnostic machine and no codes came back. I took it a few hrs from home the other day and same thing happened. It just died again. There is no warning. No lights come on the car just loses power. This time I waited a few mins and it cranked back up and I finished my journey with no AC. I also drove it back home with no AC and I had no problems. The mechanic says he is stumped because there are only a few connections for the compressor. So if its not the AC what could it be? If A/C was overfilled with the compressor job the compressor could really be overworked to the point of slugging (choking) on liquid refrigerant returning to compressor which should never happen. I'd have the operating pressures checked both high and low side for the A/C which could be telling of a problem there,
