2000 Astro wiring and fan outage


I recently replaced the fuel injectors on my 2000 Astro, and in doing so had to disconnect much of the wiring including the main engine compartment wiring harness from under the doghouse, inside the van itself, and a few under the hood like the MAS. When I put it all together, I was able to find where all of the connectors were that were on the main harness, but up under the hood, I noticed that there was a plug stuffed up under the back of the hood coming from a different harness that I couldn't find a place for.

For the life of me, I can't remember unplugging it.

There is a connector plugged into the fan motor that I never needed to unplug, and it was working prior to me beginning the job, but now it is not.

Question one: Does the factory ever stuff unused connector plugs for options not included, such as rear air conditioning?

Question two: Could there be a second connector for the main fan, that if not plugged in, could break the circuit?

Question three: Is it probable that after a week or so of not operating, that the fan siezed and needs to be replaced?


I wish I was a better mechanic, even though I'm proud to say that other than not having the fan working, the van is running very smoothly now.
I am amending the above post with updated and different information.

The fan indeed works, and blows air when the heat is on, but it won't blow out the front vents when the a/c is on.

Now the new information. There is a broken vacuum hose, maybe an 1/8 in thick, coming from a small canister on top of the upper plenum. It was very brittle and broke easily, and I don't know where it was supposed to go from there, but I'm aware that air direction from the fan uses vacuum hoses to function properly. I'm not schooled on how it actually does this.

Obviously, I need a new hose, but where should the other end go?

Also, I found out today that sometimes the factory installs plugs/connectors and hides them away in case after market options are added, or it could simply be a test lead.

The engine is running smoothly.
Look inside the van to see where the vqacuum comes through the firewall and that is the other end of the vacuum hose. There may be a vacuum T there under the hood also. Good luck.
