I have a 1984 Pontiac Grand Prix, and tonight when I got into the car I turned the lights on first (I never do this; I'm kicking myself), and then when I put the key in the ignition and turned it, the lights shut off and the car made no attempt to start. Now I can't get the lights to turn on, the car won't start, and it is essentially dead. Did I do something to really damage it? I just put a new battery in last year.
Really sounds as if the battery connections are bad or corroded.
