I have a 2005 Mazda 3i. T stat housing went bad, and had replaced. 5 months later it set off engine light again and is now leaking coolant. The original shop I had it fixed at went out of business. Can i get my money back or part replaced for free. It was still under warranty? Thanks
If it is, in fact, the thermostat housing itself that is defective, you'll need to have your original receipt with the part number and try and figure out what brand they sold you. I know that CarQuest has a nationwide guarantee on their parts, but you'll probably be stuck with the replacement labor cost. The check engine light won't illuminate for a coolant loss, alone. If the coolant loss is causing a failure in one of the engine management systems, that will turn the light on and you should have it checked soon. Keep a very close eye on the coolant level in the meantime...you will only overheat that engine once!
