Flowmaster Fit

Whats up guys? This is my first post to the forum, I'm a technician and hopefully someday I'll be a master certified mechanic. But not for a while, I just know the basics like changing oil, belts, brakes, I've done a few fuel pumps and alternators, helped with lots of heavy work, but thats about it. I don't know much about the exhaust system or welding. I appreciate any help given to me!. That being said...

I've got a 1991 Cadillac Sedan Deville 4.9L V8 that'd I'd like to put a flowmaster on. (Or Something similar) The only problem is flowmaster doesn't make a muffler specifically for my vehicle. I've seen someone use the 80 series on this car on youtube, and it makes sense how, but which series would be my best choice to replace my stock muffler? Theres lots of choices and its overwhelming. Which ones could I modify to fit correctly?

I went out and measured my stock muffler, its roughly 5" height, 23" length, 10" width, with a 2.5" inlet I THINK (its hard to measure when its hooked up but I'm pretty sure). It's mounted transversely behind the axle AND the gas tank, which made me think the 80 series might be good but it looks to me like others may fit?

I really want to turn the single pipe into a dual and get that big boat sound...Where do I find chrome piping to exit the new muffler in the exact turns and bends I need?

I think you basically have the idea of what i want to do, if you have any advice thanks ahead of time!

clip; It's almost going to require a muffler shop that can bend their own pipes to accomplish what you wish. Beautiful Caddy, by the way.

SW Washington Thank you for the compliment!
Nice looking car man!

Like Loren mentioned the pro shops for mufflers have pipe and the machine to bend it to spec. It's freaking expensive equipment and I forget what it's called - brain gone - back if five minutes

Franky I'd leave it OE but your call and your car of course. There's more to consider than you may think! Exhaust is totally part of controlling harmonic resonance! Not doing it right could make it a vibrator that would drive you nuts! Exhaust is highly engineered into the vehicle - more since the 60s and 70s than ever.

I say that and didn't I put real duals on my own car but they were a factory option which changes the issues - it has counter weights and stuff you don't think of all the time.

Ask for quotes on what you want and I suggest farming this out to an exhaust specialty shop. Hair plugs from hair loss cost more that just paying a pro IMO - laugh!

You may want to go back and take out the registration tag # of the car. Things here are archived and it id's YOU. You may not want that. You seem good at pic posting (I'm challenged) but I know you can blank out stuff like that,
