chevy metro

During a routine timing belt change on a 1998 Chevy Metro 1.3l, the person installing it turned the CAMSHAFT 2 rotations clockwise instead of the CRANKSHAFT(which is what All data says to do) to tighten the belt. Now the car won't start. It ran perfectly before this. Did this do serious damage to the engine? So many thanks to anyone who has any suggestions.

If the engine were timed properly then (even though not advisable) turning the engine with either the cam or crank shafts center bolt will not do anything to the engine.
But this is and interference engine and if the engine were turned with the belt out of time; then yes there’s a good chance that the valves have hit the pistons and are likely bent.
Pull it back apart and check that the timing is set properly and keep your fingers crossed that it’s something else preventing the engine from running.
Dan.
