I have a 1996 Chevy Lumina that has spells in which the transmission is not shifting properly. It usually occurs during city driving at slower speeds when approaching or leaving from a stop/yield type situation. It may go days and not do it and then do it all day on another day. I have a feeling it might be an electronic sensor or something such as that. I don't think it is the transmission actually slipping. It feels more like it is trying to shift up when it should be downshifting or something like that. My mechanic is very good and has always figured out my problems in the past. This one is baffling us. The episodes are not registering and/or storing any reports on the car's computer. I really dont understand what you are saying as far as your problem is concerned. Can you be a little more detailed about the symptoms.
As far as the computer is concerned. It does not have to set a code for something to be wrong. A scanner needs to be connected to the vehicle while driving it and engine and transmission sensors need to be monitored.
With it being an intermittent problem you might be out of luck for now until the problem gets more frequent. Intermittent problems are a PIA to diagnose, and you just dont want to go around throwing parts at it hoping for the best.
Sorry I cant be much more help but without more info my hands are kind of tied.
