1994 Plymouth Voyager Transmission problem

I have a 1994 Plymouth Voyager with a 3.3L V6 engine with about 164000 miles on it. It has an automatic transmission.

I have recently been having problems with my transmission. It seems to shift fine when I start out but, after getting to freeway speed, when I start to slow down I hear a little clunk sound. When I start to speed up again it will no longer shift. I found that turning off the vehicle and restarting fixes the problem but the problem returns again once I slow down from freeway speed.
Would this be a transmission issue? Is there a sensor that needs replacing? Or would this be some other issue? Its going into limp mode, meaning that the TCM (Transmission computer) has found a problem and is putting the transmission into limp mode in order to protect the trans. When you cycle the ignition switch it resets the computer and takes the trans out of limp mode until the TCM picks up another fault. You need to get the TCM scanned. Since this is a pre OBDII vehicle, I would take it to a trans shop and let them pull the codes from the TCM.

transman I have the same exact problem with my 1993 model same as mtalk does. My question is ...what may be found if the codes are pulled? I had this done last year (2009) and nothing found, but both input Car Repair Talk's forum.
