Recently I was in an accident with my '86 Ford Ranger. The truck is totaled, but the engine and everything that is important is intact, it's just the truck is in an undrivable shape.
I called around and found out i could sell the truck for scrap for 50 bucks but i'm not going to do that.
My question is how hard would it be to take the engine from my truck and put it into a shell of a car that had the drive train and everything but not an engine? It's a 4 cyl engine so i could see putting it into a civic or a celica or somethign of that sort that normally has a 4 cyl engine. How hard would that be? Would it be worth my summer vacation to do?
If that doesn't work how much does a 4 cyl engine block sell for? It was running perfectly before the accident. If i was to sell it who would i sell it to? Would I sell it to a machinist or a junk yard? As you can tell I am very confused on what to do.
Any info you could give me would be great

You would have to do major modifications to put that drivetrain in a car body. If uou could find another Ranger that has a blown engine, that would be the best bet. The price of engines vary depending on supplierand engine type. well i wasn't thinking of trasmporting the drive train from the truck to the car. I was thinking of finding a car with everything minus an engine, and putting the engine from my truck in there. But yeah you're right, it would probably be best if i could find another ranger to put my engine in. Thx for the help
