2001 Dodge Stratus SE
More often then not when it is cold out, usually below 20 degrees F, my car radio works when I first start it. After that unless the car sits for a long time my radio just has a popping sound through the speakers. If it's its above 20 my radio works speratically but never if I turn off the car and back on right away. It's a factory cd player/radio and all the fuses look fine. When the radio isn't working the lights on the balance and treble flicker, and no other lights show at all. I assume it is some short or wires maybe crossed, but I was hoping someone had a more direct spot to start. Any ideas?
I've seen a few Chryslers do that. It's an internal problem in the deck. It will only get worse up to the point where it won't come on at all any more...... Repair or replace are the only 2 options.
