Alright so I own a 1986 Ford Crown Victoria LTD. A few weeks ago I installed a new stereo and back speakers. They worked perfectly. No problems at all. I still had my dash stock speakers, so I decided I'd better replace em' before they die, and I just got the new dash speakers today. I put one of the speakers, hooked it up and decided to put the other one in the next morning because it was getting dark and I had no flashlight unfortunately. I decided to test it out. I hooked the battery back up, turned the car on, and there was nothing. No sound at all. The speaker wasn't even working. The other stock dash speaker worked fine, the two back speakers still worked, but the new dash speaker didn't do anything. No sound, no humming, popping, nothing. Any idea why it wouldn't work? I'm very sorry if this is the wrong place to post this.
I'm good with computers, not cars. : /
EDIT: Alright so I tried hooking up the stock speakers again, because they seemed to work and I figured I'd use those until I figure out this problem. Now the stock speakers don't work. There's no power at all. I don't know how this could have happened. The battery was unhooked the entire time. Had em' hooked up right too. Even had a diagram of the speaker wiring in the car!
Help would be appreciated. I hope I'm not asking of too much!
Does the unit you installed have a 4 channel output? (4 places to wire front and back speakers) or did you splice the power into the rear speaker outlet. It could be power drain. Disconnect you front speakers and see if the rear ones work. Then swap the wires to your front speakers to see if they work too.
First off, thank you very much for the reply! I'm glad I'm not in the wrong part of the forum!
It's a 4 channel. The back speakers have completely new wiring and the back speakers work with or without the dash speakers connected. The dash speakers just don't work anymore. The stocks or the new.
