how hard is it to change heater core on 92 calias

just wanting to know how much of a pain its going to be to replace the heater core in a 92 calias.
any tricks or problems, please do tell
chris all i know is you have to disassemble the dashboard on the passenger side, and probably part of the drivers too. Get a repair manual, haynes or chilton it doesnt' matter they are both good. As a matter of fact they are both made by the same company.....they ususally have tips and shortcuts in them too. Personally I have not changed one in a '92, but have in a '85. It's been several years since I have done this, but from what I can remember, it was not that bad. Remove the heater hoses and let the coolant drain while working inside the car. Remove both front seats and center council. Seats are optional, but make it easier when removed. You will not have to remove the dash. Remove the lower dash covers (above where your feet rest when sitting in the car). The heater core is located about in the middle behind some plastic housing. Remove this housing. If I recall correctly, the heater core is right there. dont remove searts or console.do remove the center cover under dash.not a big job If I remember correctly (I may be wrong), the console needs to be removeed or you will not have enough clearance to remove the plastic housing and heater core. Take a try. I always felt more room was less cussing.Car Repair Talk's forum.
