How long does the average fuel pump last? We just had to replace the one in our 1998 Explorer.
Was it the original? You didn't do to bad. I just replaced the one on my truck, but it was replaced a few years ago. Some fuel pumps do better than others. Yours lasted six years... you got your money's worth. Ok, I will take your word for it. I am still really bummed. I just hate paying to have my car repaired. I would much rather take that money and do just about anything else. That works out well. If you take your money and do just about anything else, I guarantee you will be paying heavily to have your car repaired. Peg wrote:Ok, I will take your word for it. I am still really bummed. You can fix it yourself or walk!!? All machines will help us if we take care of them to do our work. Look in repair manual to judge whether you can repair or if lots of special tools and knowledge is needed, then it helps to pay that guy who knows to get you back going again. Pulling a fuel pump is rather easy with the right "ifs" !! Is it the fuel pump or a fuse or that little safety switch for rollovers that needs to be reset? Look in manual or that sticker in trunk or under dash on side panel for that safety switch to reset.
