I have a 95 Ford Taurus. For some reason it refuses to start. When I put the key in the ignition, it won't even turn. The wheel is also locked. It has been doing this for a while, but usually if I play with the gear shift it will turn. Now it won't. Please help! I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks! My Celica used to do that, and I discovered that manufacturers, for a time, put a security device in vehicles that did that. On my Celica, you have to put the key in and just try to turn the wheel back and forth, and it eventually unlocks. Don't know if it's the same thing, but I hope it helps. Had this problem just the other day with my 94 taurus. Luckily we were already at the Walmart car repair place so just had a mechanic come out and fix it. He said it was a common thing with fords. He said you just need to make sure that the key is lined up with the ignition and that it is placed all the way in, before you attempt to turn the key. However, we encountered this problem again last night and couldn't figure out what he did. And the key was totally stuck in the ignition and would not come out. After a bunch of tries it finally could be removed when we turned the steering wheel to the left, while at the same time, turning the ignition/key to the right.
