I have never take my car to them. Can you people please share your opinion/experiences when taking your car to MIDAS? Do they work as the rest of mechanic services chains and dealerships, always coming up the famous "you need also to change this, that, those..."? Thank you.
Yes, they often want to sell you everything instead of what really needs replaced. Mainly this is to cover themselves for warranty issues. Also they rarely take the time, or have the experience, to diagnose the problem correctly.
My take on it is a good quality mechanic is not going to work at a muffler or brake shop.
The good ones work at dealerships, large independants or are a owner themself. these guys do brakes and thats all you should really expect them to do decent. Why pick on Midas? All the rest of the world does the famous "you need also to change this, that, those..."
If you need a new muffler, go to Midas. At least they know how to do that. Just say "NO" to all the other offers. Hey, if George Foreman recommends Midas, what could possibly be wrong with it? George doesn't like oil/grease. He'll drain it off somewhere. discretesignals wrote:Hey, if George Foreman recommends Midas, what could possibly be wrong with it?
No. He recommened Meineke. Oops, I am glad you caught that Warp. If George caught that, he would of knocked my #%$ out. They could be competent to do many repairs, probably more of a store by store deal, just depends on the guys working there? At least most of these guys are some kind of trained mechanics and not a bunch of parts guys working in their parking lot If you get "a list" of other work recommendations, after they do the one job you wanted them to do, just thank them, get another opinion (on that list) from another place and fix whats neccessary at the most trusted location. Finding "other" potential problems on a car while doing some simple service is something "all" technicians are trained to do, its not always a bad thing Car Repair Talk's forum.
