Oil leak following starter replacement

Hello auto friends,

My starter needed replacing and I took it to a new mechanic. Now, out of the blue, I seem to have an oil leak. I first noticed the leak today, just about 3 days after the starter was replaced. I am pretty sure it was not leaking before I took the car in to have the starter replaced. Do you think the leak could be connected to the work I had done on the car? Could the new leak be due to the mechanic's work, or is it just a coincidence that the car started leaking right after I had starter replacement done.

Thank you for your thoughts on this topic,

Steven What kind of car are we talking about? Makes a lot of difference. Generally, starter replacement will not cause an oil leak. The car is a Kia Spectra 2002. 4 cylinder 1.8 litre engine. Thank you for your feedback. I look forward to any more you can share.

Thanks,

Steven I looked at the replacement instructions and there is no mention of anything that might cause an oil leak. I guess it is just bad luck. You can look for where the oil leak is coming from and might be able to repair it yourself. Are you sure the oil leak is from your car? Thanks so much, way2old, for your input. I'll investigate the leak some more. I was mainly wondering if it was connected with the recent work I had done, and it sounds like it is not. Thanks for the insight.
