My name is Joe. Well we had some hard rain this morning and I drove thru standing water I know I had the ground clearance for. Cars made it thru. Well a truck going the other way caused a wake that rushed over my hood. Car stalled. I got a push the rest of the way to work by a friend and sprayed electrical connections with starter fluid to dry them out. I let the car sit all day and when I try to start it I hear the solonoid pull in but it does not turn over. Even with a jump start nothing. Any advice would be appreciated.
do the lites, wipers and other electric stuff work normal?
start with the battery. use a dvom to make sure its fully charged, which is around 12.6 volts. then hold the dvom leads on the battery terminals while someone trys to start it. if the voltage drops below 10 volts with the key in the start position, the battery is shot. You might have got water in the intake enough to fill a cylinder. I would also pull all the plugs then try to crank it. If it does crank you will probably see some water shooting out of a spark plug hole.
