I have noticed that when I'm idling or stopped at a traffic light, my check oil light comes on. The very second I step on the gas it goes off. Doesn't happen all the time. I'm thinking it is the oil pressure sending unit. I would be interested in knowing any one else's opinion. If I did need to replace the unit, how would I go about doing it? I don't even know where it is located. Thanks! im guessing that u checked the oil level and its ok.
if so id suspect the oil pressure switch too. the best way to confirm it would be to remove the switch and thread in a manual oil pressure gauge to check the pressure. but the sensor is the most likely thing, and a new one shouldnt run more then about $15.
it should be threaded into the block near the oil filter. heres what it looks like:
if replacing the switch dont work the next likely thing would be the oil pump. but most of the time this kind of problem ends up being the switch. Thanks a lot! Ill give it a try
