turn signal flasher, continuity test, turn signal flasher

I was wondering how to test a turn signal flasher.  It is a typical 2 terminal 12-volt "loud" flasher from my 1993 Buick Century.  I want to eliminate the simplest thing first and I wanted to know if a simple continuity test will work.  Thanks so much for your time!

Answer
you have to check it with a load. continuity usually won.t tell you unless it is completely burnt out. it is basically a self resetting circuit breaker. when you turn the signal on the current flows through the flasher which inturn heats up. when it gets to a certain temp it opens the ciruit untill it cools down.
