i have a 302 I'm wanting to put in my Mazda truck but i cant find a transmission for it is there any way i could hook the motor up my original transmission

Answer
You can't use the trans that is in there; a 302 would twist it into bits.  But I can't imagine why you are having a problem getting a transmission to use with the 302.  They only sell about a million of them every year.  You can use one from a Mustang, a F150, a E150, or an older Crown Vic.  If you have your heart set on a stick shift, I would use the five-speed from a F150.  It's made by Mazda and is pretty good, although you'll have to fiddle with the shifter to get it to work in the Ranger.  As for automatics, a three speed C4 or one of the overdrives would work fine.  You're not going to be able to just bolt it in, though.  You'll probably need to modify or replace the crossmember that supports the rear of the trans.  The engine may need a different oil pan/pickup combo.  And you'll almost certainly have to have a driveshaft made or modified.  If you are planning on a high-horsepower version of the 302, then you should stick to Mustang parts.  There are several companies that sell parts for doing this swap, including Ford Racing.  You'll find them on the web.  You also want to check to see if this will be emissions legal in your state and county.  I know that it wouldn't be here in Maryland.
