Hello,
I would say the most economical way to get an A/C compressor is to get one from a junk yard. Most of the time they will have a 30 day warrenty on them so if they are locked up you can exchange them. you need to make sure you retro-fit your a/c to R134a. If you do that you may be able to get away with spending less than a hundred bucks.A can of R134a is about 10 bucks a can and you will probably need three. Let me know where you live and maybe I could help more. Good luck.
Gordon.

Did the mechanic say why the a/c would'nt work.It doesnt make much sense to me for him to put on a compressor if it was only going to work for a while.I need some more info about why it woulnt work. Any info youc an give me will make it easier to help. Thanks.
Gordon.

I think I would go to a junk yard and get another compressor. You should be able to get one cheap. Then go to your local auto parts store and purchase a retro-fit kit($30).You should be able to charge it yourself with a little help from the parts guys.Let me know how it goes. Good Luck.
