camaro carburetor, port fuel injection, fuel pressure regul

Hi, I have a IROC-Z 1989 5.0 V8 and I'm trying to know what is the name of the brand carb this car came with because I want to buy a repair kit for it.. can you pls help me out? thank you..

Answer
The '89 Camaro did not use a carburetor.  The 5.0 came with either a multi-port fuel injection or a throttle-body fuel injection.  The throttle-body injector does look a little like a carburetor, but certainly doesn't work like one.  There are kits available for rebuilding these units, but (unlike carbs) all of the parts can be bought separately.  If you are having driveability problems or idling problems the cause is not likely to be the throttle-body unit.  The most common problem with the throttle-body unit is a failed fuel pressure regulator, which can be bought separately and replaced easily after the simple removal of the air cleaner.  But the most likely source of any problems is the ignition system.
