i had been to a mechanic shed when a check symbol was showing, so he diagnosed the car has problem with oxygen sensor and converter problem, i fixed the sensor but not converter which he said is costing around 1200$, so i want to know if i can continue using the car without car getting shutdown in the middle of jorney, i like to use it for a year.

$1200 is an outrageous price for a converter. u should be able to pick up a universal Catalytic Converter for $40-$60 at your average autoparts store the only thing u need to know is the input and output diameter.
