89 ford bronco full size 5.0 loaded, c6 transmission, ford

what transmission can i use to replace the AOD that is in this unit. I can't find a used AOD for less that $850. The last one I got went awol after I installed, flushed and babyed. Will a C-6 fit the place of the AOD and how will it effect the computer. I've been told that it takes a short shaft. Where do I measure to and from to determine the difference. I'm at a loss here. Any info would be great. Maybe I can tell you how to fix a motorcycle.
Thanks

Answer
i asume the tranny is 2wd? if so a c6 will fit. measure from the end of the tailshaft to the top of the bell housing and that will give you the length you need. keep in mind that they offer many diffrent lengths in the c6 transmission, so get one as close to the length you have, longer is allways better in case you have to cut the drive shaft, you can take away but you cant add
