4l60e to 700r4 conversion, gmc 1500, chain transmission

hi,
i have a 94 GMC 1500 it currently has a 4L60E tranny that’s gone...  but i was wondering if there is a cheap way to convert it to a non electric tranny like the 700r4(4l60) i have a rebuilt 1984, 700r4 but the connections aren’t the same as the 4l60e any ideas on what can be preformed? i know that most people go the other way with the swap... that why i need your help.

Answer
There really isn't, unless you changed the engine as well.  The computer that runs the engine also controls the transmission.  Without the feedback from the transmission, it can't properly control the engine.  Actually, you could use your existing engine and switch to a different control system, but then you wouldn't be able to pass the emissions checks.  And it would probably cost more than getting the transmission fixed.  Don't go to a franchise or chain transmission shop.  Find an independent repair shop that does transmission work and see if he'll fix what's wrong without a complete overhaul (which is what most franchise and chain shops will tell you to do).  A transmission is just like an engine; the whole thing doesn't go up at once but it's easier for the shop to do a swap (and easier for their technicians, who usually can't cope with anything more complicated than a swap).
