My step-dad has an opportunity to buy a 2001-2001 Ford taurus. Someone told him that these cars have ALOT of trouble with their transmissions.. Something about a plastic gear in them. Could you please give us some kind of advice on this matter? any help would be appreciated.

first you have to realize that these cars do have a lot of problems. but that is because there are billions of these cars on the road. everybody and there brother has one. i dont think you'll have a problem with the trans but if your concerned with it ask to take the car for a couple of hours and have it looked at by a trans shop. usually they will inspect it for free.
