transmission removal, 2005 nissan maxima, coolant hoses

Good day, i would like to know how to remove the transmission in a 2005 nissan maxima. I want to save some money by removing it myself. Also i might try to rebuild it so anything on that might help also. Thanks

    Well, if you are familiar with mechanical practices, it isn't a big deal.  You will need a lift to get the car up in the air and a big platform jack to lower the engine/transmission assembly out of the car.  They have to come out in one piece, and they have to come out the bottom.  Label everything electrical on both ends so that you can reconnect all the wiring; there will be several dozen connectors to deal with.  Also label all the vacuum connections and fuel connections; you will need special tools to disconnect the fuel lines.  Disconnect all the coolant hoses and drain the system; it's not a bad idea to remove the radiator so that it isn't damaged during the process.  Remove the A/C compressor from the engine and tuck it out of the way with its attendant hoses; don't disconnect the A/C system and you won't have to service it after you're done.  Unhook the throttle cable and transmission cable.  Pull the wheels and remove the axles from the car.  Unbolt the motor mounts and ease the thing down slowly.  Whatever you do, don't drop it.
    I would get one of my friends who has a shop to do this, 'cause it's a lot of heavy and sometimes dangerous work.  This is not a project on which to learn about mechanics.
