rearend, coil spring suspension, bolt posi

Hi I have a 1990 caprice and was wonderin if a 74 camaro 10 bolt posi rearend would fit under there I'm bout to put a 383 storker wit 530 horses and my next question I have a 700r4 in there already could I just put a 3000 stall and a shift kit in the transmission and would it hold up.or would it be easier to go with the 4 speed tranny that the motor is hooked up to and its a 4 speed manual and would I have to change my drive shaft if I went with the 4 speed

Answer
No, the rear end won't work.  It's designed to work with leaf springs in the Camaro, and you have a four-link coil spring suspension.  If you want to replace the rear end with another type, the sensible thing would be to get a 9 inch Ford rear and have it modified to fit your chassis.  Currie Enterprises and several other sources can sell you a rear already equipped with the proper brackets.  Do not use a stall converter if you are going to drive this vehicle on the street.  They are strictly for drag racing.  You could use the stick shift trans, but would have to modify the heck out of the interior to accommodate the shifter.  Almost any combination of trans and rear that is not the original is going to need a custom driveshaft.  Good news is that there are driveshaft shops in every decent-sized town and it doesn't cost a whole lot.  If you do get one built, make sure that they dynamically balance it to eliminate vibrations.
