Car Radio Trouble, something wrong with my radio, base mode

Hi, my name is dragan. This is my first time asking a question online to a stranger no offense. I drive a 2003 Honda Accord. it seems there is something wrong with my radio. When i turn it on the display works and i can change radio stations and ect. but there is no sound. it used to be that it would work today and not tomorrow recently it is rarely working. i have figured out that everytime it is about to start working there is a static/popping sound coming from my speakers or radio i am not sure. What could be the problem, thanks for your time.

You're going to want to get someone who knows what they're doing to look at it.  But, I can offer a little advice.  Most Japanese original equipment stereos, except for the very cheapest base models, have a separate amplifier mounted elsewhere in the car.  In many it is under the passenger's seat.  However, a lot of Hondas have the ECM mounted under the seat, so it may be elsewhere.  The amplifier senses when a signal is coming from the head unit and turns itself on.  Sometimes there is a relay involved.  First thing to do is look at the chart for the relay box and see if there is a relay for "amplifier."  If there is, it may need replacing.  If there isn't, the connections between the head unit and the amplifier may have corroded and become weak, preventing enough voltage signal from reaching the amplifier.  So, after looking for the relay, check the connections of all the wires to the head unit and amplifier.  Pull them apart and check for dirt or corrosion; if there is any, clean it out.  After cleaning and checking everything, try it again.  Also, if you've ever had a significant amount of water get into the car it will go straight to the amplifier and damage it.  Try the things I mentioned; if they don't work, get a pro to look at it.  Good luck.
