5 speed transmission shift cable bushings 1989 Toyota Camry

Shift cables have rubber grommet inserts with metal center at end - new cables $200 plus each DO NOT NEED cables but rather do need new bushings for cables I have. I want to purchase new bushings ONLY or can I have a stainless steel or brass bushing made to take place of rubber bushing now at end of cable? Toyota sells new cables only - no replacement bushings for 1989 Camry.

Answer
Pull one of the old bushings out and then go to a place that services lawn mowers and tractors.  Ask them if they have something like it, odds are they will.  You could also try a speed shop, they carry all sorts of little bushings for shifters and such.
