spark plugs, tuarus, everyday driver

QUESTION: Hi Mike, thanks for being available.  I was wondering if you had any performance info, or your opinions, on Splitfire brand spark plugs.  I'm looking to do a tune-up on my 97 Taurus.

ANSWER: The splitfire plug is exactly what you think it would be, a Performance part. its a good choice for track vehicles but as for an everyday driver i dont reccomend it. I would say just stick to your normal single strike point plugs with correct gap. If your looking for increased Spark or performance then yes, But with factory coil packs and wires it would defeat the purpose of the plug itself. Would your Taurus happen to be a SHO?

QUESTION: Hi Mike, thanks for the quick reply.  It's not an SHO, just a regular 3.0.  Just bought it last month & have that "kid with a new toy" syndrome.  Already removed & cleaned the seats & carpet, replaced the noisy steering pump & syphoned out the extra pint of trans fluid.  It drives fine, but I just notice a bit of misfiring I believe, when stopped at a traffic light.  Without shelling out big bucks for premium plugs, do you recommend any brands?

Answer
Your typical Bosche Supers will do just fine. Make sure to correctly gap your plugs, That can cause a Hesitation/Misfire. As for it being a tuarus, I ahve had a few myself and know they can be very enjoyable even without it being an SHO. If you should have any other questions please dont hesitate to ask..
